After many years of being a student and teacher within various organisations and working closely as a family unit with his wife, daughter and son, Mr Hux opened G&K Martial Arts Academy in 2007. Starting out from humble beginnings in a small local school hall in Gorseinon on a Tuesday evening and the Church Hall and a School Hall on a Thursday evening in Killay and Dunvant, we have gone from strength to strength and now have THREE fully matted and kitted out Dojos in Gorseinon for our own exclusive use!
Over the years we have been honoured to be awarded local, national and even international accolades for both teaching and helping in the local community. Started by our own family and now with many families training together with us, G&K has established itself over the last 15 years as a friendly, family orientated Club, gaining the respect of well known Martial Artists, not just in the surrounding areas of Gower, Swansea and Llanelli in South Wales, but extending across to England, Scotland, Ireland and all over the World.
The Academy covers the spectrum of Martial Arts training: Self Defence techniques, Pad Work, Drills, Basic techniques, Sports Karate and Kickboxing, so there is something for everyone. Our style of Martial Arts covers aspects of Karate and Kickboxing to prepare you for the modern world that we live in. We pride ourselves on instilling vital life skills such as Confidence, Discipline, Respect, Teamwork and Integrity amongst our students and the development of each and every one of our students matters to us.
We always offer a warm welcome to both children and adults of all abilities and backgrounds from the ages of 4 to 65+ and provide a controlled and safe environment for you and/or your child to train in. You are always welcome to call in, watch what we do and chat to our students and their families about why they love being part of G&K. Some of our students have been training with us since the first day we started back in 2007, so we must be doing something right!
The Academy is run by qualified Coaches and Instructors with appropriate indemnity insurance, we undertake Child Protection Course Courses and are First Aid trained and qualified with enhanced DBS checks. We have also recently introduced an exciting new Leadership Team who help teach in sessions, meet on a regular basis to undertake leadership training and are following a rigorous structured Martial Arts leadership course. In addition, the Management Team attend external run Seminars by international Martial Artists and are always introducing innovative moves and techniques including self defence combinations into the classroom.
We have a proven track record of excellence in both Martial Arts and the sport/competition side of Kickboxing, with many students travelling all over the World and the UK. G&K Martial Arts Academy is the home of Team Wales Kickboxing and the Welsh Tatami Organisation. G&K has produced many World, European, British and Welsh Champions. Our Fighting team programme has resulted in many Welsh International Fighters, as well as a one student being selected to represent Great Britain as part of Team GB.
